Geneva, Switzerland: The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) announces Hilti Group, a global leader in supplying the construction industry with innovative products, systems, software, and services, as its newest member. Hilti Group will join forces with a global network of 200 businesses committed to accelerating the transition to a more sustainable world.
With a workforce of approximately 34,000 team members spanning over 120 countries, Hilti has long been committed to fostering direct customer relationships and driving innovation. The company, privately owned by the Martin Hilti Family Trust, has generated annual sales exceeding CHF 6.5 billion in 2023.
Hilti's sustainability agenda includes targets to reduce carbon emissions across its entire value chain. Aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Hilti aims to reduce 30% of its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2032 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. In a significant milestone, the company achieved CO2 neutrality in its own operations by the end of 2023, marking a crucial step toward its net-zero ambitions.
Through collaboration with other industry leaders, WBCSD drives key projects such as Built Environment Decarbonization, Circular Built Environment, as well as WBCSD’s Switch project, which aims to foster innovative and sustainable practices to achieve low-carbon operations faster.
Hilti's decision to join WBCSD underscores its dedication to making construction better and aiming to be its customers’ best partner for sustainability. By leveraging the council's platform, Hilti seeks to collaborate with like-minded organizations, stay abreast of emerging trends and regulations in sustainability, innovation, and technology.
